The SuperConference

Postby 82 on Thu Oct 27, 2005 1:05 pm

TWR came up with idea for a superconference based on all this other crap we have been talking about. Get rid of controversy of teams playing weaker teams and put everyone in the same conference, a superconference. Take the existing SEC, invite 8 more teams bringing the total to 20 and play our own schedule and have our own national champ. Screw this Mythical shit. We would have to rearrange the existing order of the divisions but here is what I came up with:

NorthEast
Arkansas
LSU
Michigan
Miss St
Notre Dame
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Ohio St
Texas
USC

SouthWest
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Florida St
Georgia
Kentucky
Miami
South Carolina
Tenn
Vandy

Here is how it works. We play 9 division games and 2 interdivisional games on a yearly rotation. The top 3 in each division play in a playoff with each #1 getting a bye. The playoff determines the superconference champion. Now, we can only invite teams, and teams can request an invitation but its ultimately up to the SEC who we let in. It's called a succession, who's comin with me?

We could even allow a team to challenge to get in like the football leagues in Europe! A team could challenge and play to get in by beating the last place team in the super conference.

Nope, keep the SEC! The premise is that the SEC is succeeding from the NCAA and taking with them 8 teams by invitation only. These 8 teams:

Michigan
USC
Notre Dame
Ohio St
Florida St
Miami
Oklahoma
Texas

We could still keep all the greates rivalries:
Ok/Tx
OSU/Mich
ND/USC
Miami/FSU

and now their games mean something inside a conference! This is about the SEC rebelling and not leaving teams behind. And if a team decides not to come like ND screw'em.

I am not about to sacrifice the integrity of the superconference's football prowess by making it a better basketball conference. What are you, nuts?

Or.. You have 4 conf with 12 teams. North, South, East, West.. Then you have a playoff. 1's and 2's from each conf play an 8 team playoff.

8's too many, we could do just all #1's play in a final four!

Here you go, 4 6 team divisions. Work it like baseball used to for the post season. This is 24 teams, more than this and it gets too crazy

NorthWest Divison
North
Notre Dame
Ohio St
Michigan
Penn St
Kentucky
Minnesota
West
Arkansas
LSU
Miss St
Oklahoma
Texas
USC

SouthEast Division

East
Florida St
South Carolina
Miami
Va Tech
Florida
Ga Tech
South
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Ole Miss
Tenn
Vandy

The 12 teams I added to the superconference were added because they have showed a winning tradition over YEARS of play, most have HUGE stadiums, Minn plays SEC style ball and we needed another north so they got the nod! The only one that really didnt fit was Va Tech but they have won alot in the last 5 years so their in. I kept the South division all souther teams and put all Fla teams in the East division cause I dont think of 'South' when I think of the state of Fla. Tech could have been in the South because they are in Ga and used to be in the SEC (hell, they got more SEC titles than Auburn and LSWho) but not over these other 6. KY goes to the East cause they are the most Northern SEC team but still I couldnt put them in the North.

At first glance the West division is the strongest, Texas, USC, LSU, and Oklahoma? WOW!

The superconference doesnt take kind to those words. Be careful or your team might get cut, we could always add BC in the East division! Even though they wouldnt fit the label SouthEast conference. WOW, this thing actually works on a perfect regional scale!

I think Vandy should go east and GT go South. I know it does not work geographically but neither does the BCS....

I think we're talking about seceding, not "succeeding."

And that's not just a joke about not being able to spell secede without "SEC."

This is great, each divsion has 4 really good teams in them. The superconference would output not only 1 champion but that chamion would never say they didnt earn it either. I have a feeling the champ could be a 1 or 2 loss team year end year out!

If this shit doenst output the best team in the nation with no question marks unlike the current system then I will declare my alligence to the BCS!
