2009 UGA Tailgate Menu

Postby JD on Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:40 pm

September 12 - South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina Style BBQ
The home opener has already been announced as a 7pm kickoff, giving me plenty of time to slow cook a pork butt and douse it in a nice mustard based South Carolina style bbq sauce.

September 26 - Arizona State Sun Devils
Chicken Diablo Tacos
The devil (aka Diablo) in this dish is the spicy sauce the chicken is lathed in prior to being thrown on the grill. To complete the southwest theme, I'll slice it up and have tortilla, cheese and salsa to make some pretty tasty tacos

October 3 - LSU Tigers
Jambalaya
The Bayou Bengals are known for their cajun cooking - so I'll make some Jambalaya with andouille.

November 7 - Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles
Corn Casserole & Tennessee Sausage
By far my toughest menu to plan this season. The corn casserole has golden corn and (not eagle, but close enough) eggs. I'll also grill up some Tennessee sausage links.

November 14 - Auburn Tigers
Weeping Tiger
I know this is a repeat from 2007, but since I blacked out before it was done, I never ate any. Plus it seemed to work well for us that year. This Thai-marinated Beef is supposed to be so spicy/delicious that it makes a tiger cry.

November 21 - Kentucky Wildcats
Wildcat Chicken
I don't know why they call this Wildcat chicken, but it looks tasty with its spicy Kentucky bourbon marinade.

Joel, are you not going to Jax? Or just not cooking down there?

I don't cook down there.
And haven't decided if I'm going this year or not.

This is the first time I realized we have an entire month of no home games again this year. That really sucked last year. At least one of the weeks is an off week this year.

The menu looks delicious! Your blackout food from '07 was exquisite. I'm sure you will enjoy it this time around.

I don't want a break like that from home games. And since I am going to Knoxville, Nashville and Jacksonville, it's not really a break besides the open weekend.

Indeed. Home games mean a little over an hour drive on Friday and Sunday. Much easier than 3 hours to Knoxville, 4 to Nashville or 5 to SSI/Jax.
