This team will NOT make the postseason. I said it before the season, then I started to believe, but I wanted to shoot Chernoff on 680 when he was saying if the Cards swept the Phils it was all over, this team is not going to sustain what they did in May-June-1/2 July. I go back to my original post on the Braves from before the season. This team is no better than the 3-4 teams that have preceeded it. They have won some tight games thanks to Wagner and clutch hitting, but Wagner may be fading and the clutch hitters have gone back to swinging and missing. The team is 1-3 within the division since they all-star break against the 4th and 5th place teams. They got shut out last night by an emergency starter while the Nats stole bases like they were cash on white boy walking down Boulevard. Meanwhile, the Phils have won 6 straight and stand only to get stronger with the imminent return of Utley and perhaps a move to acquire Oswalt (though I don't think moving Werth is the right idea).
Glaus sucks again, Hinske has lost the magic, Alex Gonzalez while a good addition has yet to find his stride, Huddy needs to play stopper again tonight or this could get ugly quick. I hope someone steps up, but don't know if it will be enough to hold off the 2 time defending NL champs.
Thanks to the MLB 162 game season the law of large numbers always applies and the cream rises to the top. Los Bravos are a poor team that made big mistakes committing money to Kawakami, Lowe and McLouth which is handcuffing them despite the fact they are in a good position at this point in the season. It's been a good ride in 2010, but I am writing them off once and for all as soon as this 3.5 game lead is erased. Bring on football season.
