It's the off-season

Postby Robbins on Mon Mar 08, 2010 2:16 pm

Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger was arrested over the weekend in Remerton, Ga., on five charges including underage consumption, disorderly conduct and possession of a fake I.D.

Mettenberger was arrested at approximately 1:39 a.m. Sunday outside of a local restaurant called Flip Flops and was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Mettenberger, a freshman, is competing with fellow freshman Aaron Murray and rising junior Logan Gray for the starting quarterback job this spring. Although spring practice began last Thursday, Georgia’s players are on spring break for the next week and will not return to work until March 16.

Georgia’s Athletics Association mandates a minimum one-game suspension for any players found guilty of an alcohol-related violation, which could cost Mettenberger a chance to play in the team’s opener against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 4.

Mettenberger redshirted last season but offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said the strong-armed quarterback had made impressive strides since arriving in Athens last spring and was contender for the starting job left open following the graduation of traffic cone with a penis spray-painted on it. Mettenberger played in high school at nearby Oconee County High School.

LSU wide receiver Terrance Toliver was one of three men issued a misdemeanor citation early Sunday morning for participating in a fight outside a Baton Rouge bar, sources at LSU confirmed.

Toliver, who is from Hempstead, Texas, was tasered by Baton Rouge City Police at 2 a.m. outside of Fred's, a lounge located in the Tigerland area, according to a police spokesman. He was charged with disturbing the peace, public intoxication and interfering with a police officer.

Toliver has already spoken with Coach Les Miles and will speak with him again Monday, a source at the schol said. Toliver said he was trying to break up a fight.

"We are in the process of gathering information on this incident," Miles said. "We are going to investigate it thoroughly to find out the facts and then act accordingly."

LSU men's basketball player Dennis Harris was also issued a citation for interfering with a police officer.

LSU men's basketball Coach Trent Johnson said through the sports information office that he will meet with Harris as soon as possible but would not comment until his Monday press briefing.

Timothy Moran was also cited at the scene for public intoxication and disturbing the peace.

None of the three were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Its just amazing how these jokers year after year get in trouble. We all got wasted in college, and probably very few of us got arrested. I guess though when you are high level football players, you should be able to do what you want and no one bother you. Mettenberger may have just cooked his goose. Word is he started crying after he realized he was headed to the pokey.
Be good to each other.

While at Auburn, I got arrested for Disorderly Conduct at a concert.

Nothing major happened.

1. Police officer no likey Kyle standing on railing. Tells me to get down

2. I jump over railing to get down

3. Police officer opens doors with my face and tells me to walk home (home is over 4 miles away)

4. I walk across street sit down and "wait" for friends to leave said concert.

5. Police officer no likey and slaps cuffs on me

6. Police officer thinks, I might "make a break for it" while in cuffs and chicken wings me to ground.

7. Not a fun night to be cuffed on ground outside of Beard Eaves while the concert lets out.
